Sometimes, despite our wholehearted commitment to exercising and staying fit, there are areas of our body in which fat gathers and simply refuses to move. Aqualyx® offers a means of finally eliminating these stubborn areas, allowing you to achieve the body you desire and deserve.

Aqualyx® can treat various areas of the body such as the stomach, chin, hips, arms and pectoral muscles.

Treatment involves the injection of a fat-dissolving solution containing a secondary deoxycholan-acid, a bile acid which is made in the liver and helps the digestion of fat. Once injected, the solution causes permanent destruction of fat cells which are then removed by the lymphatic system over the next few weeks.

Aqualyx® is injected directly into the subcutaneous tissue using a thin, flexible cannula. Within the following weeks, the treated fat cells are gradually resolved and the metabolism in the treated area is increased to stimulate removal by lymphatic system.

Aqualyx® is intended for patients with localised fat not responding to diet or exercise. It is not a weight loss treatment. Aqualyx® treatment is available to most clients between the ages of 18 and 60 depending on suitability. It is not, however, suitable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who have certain medical conditions. This will be discussed at consultation.

Aqualyx® can be used to treat localised fat deposits in areas such as chin, jawline, stomach, hips, thighs and anywhere where there is a problem with localised fat.

On average, 2-5 sessions will be required, approximately 3-4 weeks apart. The number of treatments vary according to the volume of the fat deposit being treated, the individual’s response to the treatment and their desired achievement.

There may be some discomfort during the procedure, however, local anaesthetic is added to the fat-dissolving solution to minimise discomfort.

The most common side-effects are redness, swelling and tenderness at the injected areas. These are expected and usually last a few days, swelling may last several days. A small number of patients may experience numbness for a few weeks after treatment and will recover over time in almost all cases.

Although results can be seen after one session, it is normal that the final result is not seen until 6-8 weeks post treatment.

The results of Aqualyx® treatment have the potential to last for a very long time. Naturally, regular exercise and a healthy diet will extend your positive results.
