Medical Facial Peels: Glycolic

What is Glycolic?

Glycolic Acid is the naturally occurring, non-toxic Alpha Hydroxy Acid derived from sugar cane, and is used to treat many skin problems that are associated with an excessive build up of dead skin cells, which make the skin thick, dull and is a cause of blocked pores.

What are Glycolic peels?

A Glycolic Peel is a unique treatment which penetrates down to the deeper living layers of the skin to eliminate dead skin build up to allow the skin to glow with health. Pores are deeply cleansed and impurities are removed. The skin moisture levels and natural Collagen production are improved, resulting in a clear and bright complexion with firmed and toned contours. Glycolic peels are suitable for the face & neck, back, hands and chest.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

A course of 4-6 treatments are recommended 1 to 2 weeks apart for maximum results. Other treatments of Microdermabrasion and Intense Pulsed Light may also be incorporated into the treatment plan to further enhance the results.

Do I need to prepare my skin?

Following a consultation with a skin specialist you will be advised to use the prescribed MD Formulations products for at least 2 weeks prior to the first peel to prepare the skin properly.

What are the Possible Side Effects?

True allergic reaction to the product is very rare. Slight redness and mild flaking is common following the treatment and this is why the skin is prepared prior to peeling. You may experience a mild tingling or stinging sensation when the peel is applied to your skin. This is normal and subsides very quickly depending on skin sensitivity.
